WORST PHOTO SESSION EVER!!!! Yep, It was mine…..

The other day our oldest son, Evan said something that made me

happy and sad all at the same time. He said, the last time he

remembers Marc and I fighting, was during family photos years ago.

Yep. I remember that day, it was rough.

It made me happy because that was years and and I may or may not have given Marc and I each gold stars. But, it also made me sad that he had that memory! We all hate these photos, I promise that you will never see them hung in our home, EVER! They represent a bad day. It is their least favorite and truth be told, it is my least favorite as well. There were so many reasons that it all went wrong. I wanted perfection, I wanted the PERFECT family photo. Why couldn’t Marc cooperate, why couldn’t I be skinnier, why couldn’t the kids just get it together and know exactly what I wanted….

I had set my expectations so high and was so tense ya’ll. Marc and I ended up fighting, he left (which is the only time I can ever remember that happening) and the kids were miserable. Just miserable.

If I could change that day, I would. But I can’t. What I can do is to learn from it and I honestly have. I learned what was important.

OUR FAMILY is important.

OUR LOVE is important.

HAVING FUN is important.

GOOD MEMORIES are important.

What is not important.

MY SIZE is so not important.

PERFECTION is not where it is at.

PINTEREST WORTHY IMAGES, nope.

So, this year – make the best memories. Don’t try to recreate the perfect Pinterest moments, make your own moments.

Love who you are right now and friend, do not wait for the perfect body to book your family photos. Your kids do not care what size you are, they love you. They want to see photos of ya’ll being together and just being you. Check out this POST for 5 tips on getting those awesome family photos!

I have these images of my Nana and I after she was diagnosed with cancer, all I see is her smile, her hands and I hear her voice. I can smell her expensive lipstick that she wore every single day so she could feel beautiful. Her size was not important, I don’t care about how big or small she was. The photos make me remember her amazing hugs! These photos are treasures and my kids need those photos to be connected to their past.

So, give up that perfect image you have for yourself, get in those photos. Have fun & create amazing memories. I promise that isn’t something you will look back on and regret. They will be treasures for generations to come.

Let’s end it with one of my all time fav family photos!!!!
